“As I was painting the series, Disentangling, I felt the need to go beyond the canvas and express the feminine liberation I was feeling through a different medium. Immediately, I was drawn to ceramics, and the act of sculpting and feeling the creation of the body in my hands…this is how the PODEROSA sculpture came to life.

I named her PODEROSA because of the strength, empowerment, and patience the whole process of ceramics has given me. Each piece is unique in its own way, as each piece requires its own attention in every step of the process.

As I was finalizing the sculpture, I decided to make it functional. My process of self-love, growth and finding clarity within myself, was very much inspired and driven by nature and my reconnection with it. Making the sculptures into vases, where flowers or plants can be exhibited in unity with the body, completes the art work.”
